Jim Taylour, is Head of Design and Wellbeing at Orangebox, the design led office furniture manufacturers based in South Wales, UK. Jim trained as a furniture designer and is a Chartered Ergonomist and has worked in the office furniture industry for 30 years both in a specialised occupational health capacity and in mainstream workplace design and research. Jim has published a number of papers on the relationship between physical and psychological workplace wellbeing and appropriately deployed workspaces and technology. Jim also chairs the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors special interest group on children’s ergonomics and helps to represent the industry in harmonisation of furniture standards across Europe through the British Standards Institute. Research and innovation around the topics of nomadic and collaborative working have helped to fuel rapid growth for Orangebox in recent years both in the UK and abroad. With work being increasingly defined as what we do rather than where we do it, Orangebox R and D continues to explore ways in which innovative design can connect people in a more productive and healthy way for happier outcomes in any settings.
